The Trait Swap Ring

The Trait Swap Ring

Eliza Tranell went downstairs to answer the door bell. At the door was Geoffrey Wilkinson. Eliza was a pretty seventeen year old girl. She was about five foot three inches tall with dirty blonde hair, hazel eyes and a very sweet disposition. Eliza and Geoffrey had been best friends since they had been little. Eliza would have liked to be more than friends, but it just never happened. Geoffrey lived next door and would come over often to hang out. Geoffrey was seventeen also. He was five foot eleven inches tall with brown hair and dark blue eyes. He was also a very nice boy in all respects.

"Eliza," Geoffrey said excitedly, "You are not going to believe what I found. No one would believe it. I found this ring," Geoffrey showed what looked to be an ordinary silvery colored ring to Eliza. It was on his ring finger on his right hand.

"Well, it's nice," she said. "But it's nothing special. I don't even think it's real silver."

"It is worth much more than silver, it's magic and it can change reality."

"Oh, come on," Eliza said with a smirk on her face.

"No, it's true, it can change traits between people and changes reality to make it true."

"Yeah, so what reality have you changed. Everything is the same."

"Where do I live?"

"Next door of course."

"No, I am supposed to live three blocks down, on Blinken Street."

"You have lived next to us for as long as I have known you."

"That is how reality has been changed. I changed my address with the people who lived next door to you and now, I live there and they live where I used to."

"Oh, come on, if you lived there I would know."

"Not if reality has been changed," Geoffrey retorted.

"If reality has been changed than how am I supposed to know?"

"Like this." Geoffrey then pulled out his ring and pointed it at Eliza. Time stopped for everyone but Geoffrey. He saw floating in midair a holographic screen with a picture of Eliza containing all of her statistics and many menu items. The menu was in a hierarchical structure that was easy to navigate. The menus seemed to be laid out perfectly for Geoffrey. Looking through the menu selection he found 'Self Awareness' and selected it. He then closed the screen and time resumed. All of a sudden, realization dawned upon Eliza. She could see how things used to be. Geoffrey was right, he used to live three blocks away. But there was something else, something he didn't tell her. "Hey, don't you have brown eyes?" she said.

"Yes, I changed that too. It was my first test of the ring. My mom's friend, Emily was over and she has these great blue eyes and so I swapped eye color with her. I immediately looked in the mirror and it was true I had her eyes. I wanted to see if anyone noticed the change, so I found an excuse to talk to my mother and look at Emily's eyes. They were brown like mine used to be. But that wasn't good enough, I had to point it out in some way. So I made a comment about her brown eyes and nothing."

"What do you mean nothing?"

"I mean it was perfectly ordinary. It was like she had always had brown eyes and everyone knew it. But that was a small test. I was coming here to tell you, but eye color is such a small thing. So I saw your neighbor and I swapped home addresses with him. Now I live next door. I went inside, my mom was still talking to Emily they were just in a different house. They hadn't noticed anything. When I looked around the house, things were a little different. I suppose it's because of the layout is different, but its still my house. I recognize the decor."

"How did you find this ring?" Eliza asked which was the next logical question anyone would ask. Geoffrey told the story, but it really wasn't very important or very interesting. The important thing was not how the ring was found but that the ring was found.

Geoffrey said that the moment he held the ring he knew its power, he didn't have to have it explained. This made sense to both Geoffrey and Eliza since a ring of this power could make its power known without needing a long explanation. He simply knew everything there was to know about the ring just by holding it. At least he thought he knew everything about the ring. There were certain aspects of the ring that he didn't know. But how was Geoffrey supposed to know what he didn't know.

Eliza wanted to try it out. Geoffrey explained that he had to be wearing the ring to use it.

"Well then take it off and let me try," Eliza begged.

"I can do better than that." Geoffrey handed her another ring.

"What's this?"

"Well I didn't say there was only one ring."

"There are two rings??? There is never two of these things in the stories. There are never two genies there is only one. Look at 'Aladdin' or for that matter 'I Dream of Jeanie'."

"There are two rings and you can have the other one."

Eliza put it on her finger and just like Geoffrey she knew everything about how the ring worked. Her holographic display was laid out differently for her than for Geoffrey. But she couldn't know that. She for example had a 'TOTAL' and 'PERMANENT' option that Geoffrey never saw. It had set itself up for her preferences, but all of the features were displayed, just in a different order.

"Hey let's go out and try this out," Eliza said, now she was just as excited as Geoffrey was when he arrived.

"OK."

They were about to leave when Eliza's mom reminded them that it was dinner time and that Eliza had to wait. Family dinner was an important part of Eliza's household. Her whole family got together to eat almost every night. There were just the four of them, Eliza, her mom and dad and her little seven-year-old sister Brooke-Lynn.

Since they couldn't go out, they decided to use the rings on the people in the house. They wanted to make a real big change to see if it would work and if anyone would notice. Eliza suggested that she swap 'Lives' with her sister. But Geoffrey said what would really be cool is if he would swap lives with Brooke and Eliza swap lives with him and see if any one noticed. So that is what happened. Geoffrey swapped 'Lives' with Brooke (Brooke was watching cartoons in the livingroom) and Eliza swapped 'Lives' with Geoffrey. This meant that Brooke was now Eliza.

When they were done, Geoffrey found himself sitting in front of the TV watching cartoons. He was watching the Powerpuff Girls. He didn't particularly like the show but he had Brooke's life and so he was doing what she had been. He looked around and saw Brooke standing with Eliza. He got up to join them. When he got there, he wanted to talk to Eliza about what happened, but couldn't in front of Brooke. Brooke still wanted to watch cartoons so she left and plopped herself in front of the TV.

"I don't feel any different," Geoffrey said.

"Me neither. But you was standing next to me and then you was sitting in front of the TV."

"I know it was weird, I was just there. But I didn't want to watch the cartoons. Everything seems to be the same. You even look the same. Shouldn't I be wearing Brooke's shirt or something?"

"I don't know."

"If I have Brooke's life, I must live here, lets look in your room." Brooke and Eliza shared a room. Eliza followed Geoffrey to her room.

"It looks the same," Geoffrey said. Everything looked as it had, the toys, books and furniture looked the same as it had always been. But when they looked in the closet. "Hey wait this is different." Eliza went to the closet to see what Geoffrey was talking about. In the closet, instead of Eliza's clothing was Geoffrey's. Brooke's clothing was unchanged. "See my clothing is in there, instead of yours."

"Wait this doesn't make sense, my clothing hasn't changed, how come my clothing isn't in there."

"Because you are now me...er...I mean you have Geoffrey's life. Your clothing is probably at my house."

"But shouldn't you be wearing my clothing and so it should be here."

"No, clothing is another option. I switched "LIVES' with Brooke, not clothing so I am still wearing the same thing. Your clothing hasn't changed."

"This is all very confusing. Are you sure it worked? Brooke is still watching cartoons."

"I think so. We switched lives so I think that everyone will treat me like they would Brooke, but I haven't changed. I think for this option its how the world treats you, not how you see yourself. There were lots of other options for those things."

Finally dinner was ready and they all gathered at the table. Small talk was made.

Eliza's mother asked Eliza, "So how is school?"

"Things are going well," she said. Although Eliza wasn't sure if her mom meant to ask her as Eliza or as Geoffrey. Geoffrey wasn't sure either. So he decided to try and test it.

"Can Eliza and I go to the mall after dinner?" Geoffrey asked. He tried to avoid calling Eliza's dad, Mr. Tranell or dad.

"Tonight?" Mr. Tranell inquired.

Brooke who now had Eliza's life didn't know anything about going to the mall with 'Brooke.' "What are you talking about? I'm not going to the mall?"

"You promised you'd take me," Geoffrey tried to recover.

"No I didn't."

"Yes you did!!!"

"It doesn't matter, you can't go anyway, it's getting late and tomorrow is school," Mr. Tranell said in a firm tone.

"Oh, darn," Geoffrey said without feeling it but trying to act the part of a rebuffed seven-year-old. The test had worked perfectly. As far as anyone knew (except Eliza) he was just a seven-year-old girl. The real Brooke thought she was Eliza. Geoffrey decided that if he was going to be treated like Brooke, he should have her name too. He took out the ring, pointed it at Brooke and swapped 'First name'.

After dinner, Eliza's parents made it clear to Geoffrey that he should go home without saying it explicitly. Eliza used the ring to get her life back from Brooke and expected Geoffrey to do the same. At this point, Eliza was herself and Brooke had both Geoffrey's name and life. But Geoffrey thought it would be fun to stay as Brooke for a while longer.

"Look, we aren't finished testing the rings and we can even stay in the same room if I stayed as Brooke. I know you have wanted to sleep with me for a long time." Eliza blushed at the suggestion.

"But what about the real 'Brooke'?"

"She can go to my house. It is next door."

"Your right, besides I would love to see you in one of Brooke's little nighties."

"Brooke's nighties are at my house now. I'll sleep in my own pajamas."

"Awww, but I think her nightie would be quite pretty on you. You should swap clothing too."

Geoffrey smiled. "We'll see." But Geoffrey didn't want to wear Brooke's or any girl's clothing.

Brooke went home to Geoffrey's house and Geoffrey and Eliza went to their room. They had a lot to talk about. But before they knew it, it was Brooke's bedtime and Mrs. Tranell let Geoffrey know it. Geoffrey had no choice but to get ready for bed as Brooke would have. Geoffrey had decided to wear a pair of pajamas to bed instead of his usual boxers. Eliza sighed in mock disappointment.

Eliza's mom wakes up Geoffrey. "Hunnybunch, get dressed for school, we have to go soon," Mrs. Tranell reminded Geoffrey. Geoffrey planned on swapping back lives with Brooke in the morning, but he woke up late. He would have to get dressed and then swap lives when he could. Geoffrey didn't know exactly what to wear. He didn't know if it mattered so he asked Eliza.

"Just wear what you usually wear to school. It won't matter everyone thinks you are Brooke. I wonder what they would think if you did wear Brooke's clothing. Would they think their little seven-year-old is a transvestite???" A wide grin grew on Eliza's face at the thought of it.

He took off the pajamas he was wearing and quickly got dressed as soon as Eliza left the room. Eliza had to remind him to put the pajamas away or Eliza's mom would be angry. Just because he was wearing his own clothing didn't mean he didn't have to follow Eliza's mom's rules.

Eliza was in the bathroom putting on her makeup. Geoffrey had to pee so he waited for her. The real Brooke would have entered the bathroom even if Eliza was in there, but Geoffrey didn't think it was appropriate. Everyone might have thought that they were sister's but Geoffrey knew better. This made Geoffrey later than he should have been.

In the bathroom, Geoffrey took a pee and brushed his teeth. When he got out, Eliza said that he needed to have his hair brushed. He had done that, but not in the proper girlie style of Brooke so Eliza had to do that for him too. Then they remembered, that wasn't right. If Geoffrey didn't wear Brooke's clothing he shouldn't have her hairstyle either. So he brushed it out. By the time he was done he was very late.

Geoffrey went down stairs and then into the kitchen. Mrs. Tranell was there. Geoffrey looked at her. "Hunnybunch sit down and have your breakfast." He sat down in front of a bowl of sugary cereal. Mrs. Tranell then poured milk onto the cereal. Eliza had some yogurt and a piece of fruit and had already left for school, she wanted to get there early.

"Eat up Brooke." she says. "Yes.....Mom...my." Geoffrey decides he should get into character as long as he is here. Geoffrey knows he will have to concentrate. He has Brooke's life, but he doesn't want people to think something is wrong with Brooke. Geoffrey dug into his cereal. It actually tasted good, he realized no one is ever too old to eat Fruity Pebbles cereal. He thinks maybe when he returns to normal he will get his mom to get him some. Well maybe not Fruity Pebbles, but Fruit Loops would be fine. It says its part of a nutritious breakfast and it's tasty. Can't go wrong when your breakfast is 30% sugar (or is it 90% sugar, who knows).

After finishing his breakfast which includes the cereal and some juice. Geoffrey hopped out of his seat and headed for the door. He had to find the real 'Brooke' and switch 'Live's back. Mrs. Tranell who was impressed that Brooke had finished the entire bowl said in a commanding voice "Brooke-Lynn Tranell where are you going?"

"I'm going to school," Geoffrey lied, but he had to swap back with Brooke before she headed to his school.

"You are not going to walk alone, young lady." Geoffrey forgot to stay in character for a second. Little girls don't go anywhere alone. He thinks to himself he had better get used to being watched by an adult at all times. Maybe he can catch Brooke. "Also, aren't you forgetting something?"

"I...I..I...don't think so."

"Where is your book bag and what about your lunch box?"

"Ummm," looking around, "I don't see them."

Mrs. Tranell expects seven-year-olds to be forgetful so it is no big deal for her. Although she was concerned about Brooke trying to leave the house without her. Mrs. Tranell fetched her things. Brooke's school bag was actually a Dora knapsack. It seems all seven-year-old girls have Dora the Explorer knapsacks Geoffrey thinks. Mrs. Tranell helps Geoffrey put on Brooke's knapsack. She then gives him a Carebear's lunch box. Geoffrey is curious to know what is inside, but he decides to wait to open it later.

Mrs. Tranell then takes Geoffrey's hand and leads him out the door. Geoffrey knows that he is being watched too closely to get away and switch back. He decides that it might be fun to go to school as Brooke instead. Besides he had little choice anyway. Mrs. Tranell walks Geoffrey all the way to the school never letting go of his hand. During the trip she reminds Geoffrey that he has to wait for mommy. She tries to do it in a way that is both urgent for a young girl but not so much so that it'll scare her. Mrs. Tranell doesn't want her daughter to think the world is a scary place.

Meanwhile, Eliza wanted to try her ring out by herself. She arrived at her highschool early and looked around for things to do. She didn't want to change herself, but she decided that some triangle swaps would be fun. She could swap with someone and then with another person and then back again. This way she would remain unchanged but the other two people would be swapped in some way.

The first person she saw that interested her was Janet the school slut. Well that was her reputation anyway. Eliza didn't know if the girl actually fooled around all that much. There were rumors but guys always said they did more than they actually did so she wasn't quite sure. Regardless, Janet did dress like a slut. She wore the 'sexiest' clothing she could get away with in school. Today, she was wearing a halter top and skin tight leggings with an eagle in flight print. The halter extended down to the top of her leggings. Eliza was sure that Janet would be showing her midriff if she could get away with it. On her feet were strappy sandals with a two inch heel. Her face was heavily made up and framed by long blonde wavy hair.

Eliza took out her ring and pointed it at Janet when time resumed, she was wearing Janet's attire. When Eliza looked at Janet in her clothes, Eliza wondered why she dressed so sluttily, in normal clothes, Eliza thought, Janet was quite pretty. Eliza walked down the hall looking for a girl to swap outfits back with. Even though, Eliza was now dressed as slutty as Janet had been, no one made any comments about her. To everyone, this was quite normal and Eliza didn't have the reputation that Janet had.

Eliza couldn't decide on which girl should be 'blessed' with Janet's slutty attire. Then Janet saw, Carl the class bully. He was walking down the hall and the students were giving him a wide birth. "That would be perfect," Eliza thought and she used the ring to swap clothing with Carl. Only Eliza could notice the comical state of Carl walking down the hall in his halter and leggings. There was a distinct bulge in his leggings now. This was even more obvious than the halter, but nothing had changed. Carl's face was heavily made up, he wore a halter top and leggings (Eliza assumed he was wearing a bra and panties too but she couldn't see from her angle.) His walk was slightly different since he wore shoes with a two inch heel, but irregardless, everyone still got out of his way when he walked down the hall.

Eliza was now wearing a t-shirt, a pair of jeans and sneakers. She noticed her breasts weren't supported by a bra and she didn't like that. She returned the way she came to find Janet and get her own clothes back. She finally found her and did the swap again. Eliza was back to normal but took out a mirror to make sure. She then saw Janet walk away. Even in Carl's clothes, Janet still looked quite pretty. Eliza wondered again, why Janet decided to wear slutty clothes in the first place.

Throughout the last swap, only clothing was switched, not hair nor hair styles. This was quite noticeable on Carl who was wearing a face full of makeup but his hair was still in its boyish cut. So when Eliza saw Paul who had a buzz cut she decided to act. She swapped hairstyles with Paul and then looked around quickly. Marcia had a lovely hair style and a few moments later, Paul had pretty, brunette hair that fell in delicate waves around his face to his shoulder blades and Marcia had a buzz cut which actually gave her head an egg shaped appearance. It really made a difference in Marcia's appearance since her hair framed her face and highlighted her best features. Without it her 'head' was exposed for everyone to see, even though her makeup worked to correct her flaws. Without her hair to balance everything out she just wasn't as pretty as she seemed before. Although no one seemed to notice the downgrade in her appearance.

In class, both the teacher, Mrs. Joules and Kimberly had large DD cup breasts. But whereas at seventeen Kimberly's breast were magnificent, both high on her chest and perky. On Mrs. Joules who was in her fifties, they were saggy and lifeless. Kimberly wore a pushup bra to highlight her best feature. Mrs. Joules used a very strong 'eighteen-hour bra' to just keep her large mammaries under control. Eliza's firm B-cup breasts were first swapped to Kimberly. Both of their bras changed size to accommodate their new dimensions. Eliza swapped quickly with Mrs. Joules before she changed her mind and decides to keep Kimberly's breasts. Then she gets her own breasts back from Kimberly. Kimberly's breasts sagged quite a lot in her pushup bra. Mrs. Joules now perky breast were hidden in her support bra. Eliza made one last touch before she was done. Unlike with Carl and company, this time Eliza allowed everyone except Mrs. Joules and Kimberly to notice the change. It wouldn't take Kimberly long to find out what people thought of her new breasts. Mrs. Joules wouldn't notice anything was different until she got home and her husband saw her naked. Mr. Joules didn't need his viagra that night.

Finally, Geoffrey arrives at the elementary school grounds and Mrs. Tranell makes sure an adult takes charge of him before leaving herself. Geoffrey is then escorted inside the school with the other students in Brooke's class. Geoffrey waits for everyone to sit down and tried to figure out which is his seat. He uses his skills as an adult to figure it out somehow. There is only one desk that is big enough for a person of his size. He assumes the ring changed reality to make it possible for him to be in this class. That must be my seat he thought.

Looking around, Geoffrey sees he is in the first grade. He have no idea what they teach children that young. He doesn't even know if he is supposed to know his ABCs. Geoffrey sits there quietly and look at what the other kids are doing. The kids who are not playing around take out a notebook and he looks in his bag and does the same.

The teacher, Geoffrey doesn't know what her name is, gets the class quieted down. Today's lesson is on odds and evens. The teacher holds up a picture with a group of things, balls, snakes, teddy bears, whatever and the students have to decide if its odd or even. Geoffrey is much more concerned with what is the teacher's name than to worry about the lesson. The teacher notices his attention is elsewhere.

"Brooke...Brooke...Brooke," the teacher says. She then moves towards Geoffrey.

Snapping out of it, Geoffrey quickly answers the obvious question. He sees six birds so the answer is even. But this is much to easy for Geoffrey. "It's no fun being a first grader if you know all the answers," Geoffrey thinks to himself. So he takes the ring out and points it at the nearest student. Geoffrey's plan is to swap back when the school day is done. He looks through the features and exchanges 'Intellect' with her.

Now Geoffrey only knows what a seven year old knows. Since the lesson is not so easy anymore, the lesson now seems very interesting and he is proud of himself when he gets the answers correct.

For the next two and a half hours or so, the teacher taught about odds and evens. Every twenty minutes, the lesson structure would change, but the topic was always on odds and evens. The teacher drew on the board various shapes and the students had to count them and tell if they were odds or evens. This lesson didn't only teach the math but also reinforced shapes to the students.

One of the students called the teacher Miss Konner. Geoffrey finally knew the teacher's name. He smiled to himself.

Then there were manipulatives in which the students were put into groups of two or three to work together. Later there was a work sheet. The class moved from lesson to lesson quickly to keep the kids engaged. Geoffrey didn't notice, it was all fun to him, not work. There was even a break in the middle for milk and cookies. "High school never had milk and cookie breaks during class," Geoffrey thought. Miss Konner was a very good teacher and Geoffrey liked her a lot.

Finally, it was time for lunch and recess. Miss Konner took the class to the lunch room to eat. Everyone was reminded to take their lunch box with them. Miss Konner then left the whole class with the lunchroom attendants. Geoffrey guessed this was so she could eat her own lunch in peace. He was proud of himself for figuring it out. Geoffrey guessed that none of the other kids would have reasoned it out.

Geoffrey sat down with some girls. He only knew a few of their names from class, but this seemed to be the group of kids that Brooke played with. Geoffrey finally got to see what was in Brooke's lunch box. It was a tuna sandwich on white with the crusts cut off. There were a grape drink box, an orange and some M&Ms. He started with the M&Ms first.

Geoffrey listened to the conversations of the girls and tried to jump in where he could. Once he got the hang of it, Geoffrey started to have fun. After his group was finished all they were going to eat, they decided to play a clapping game. So Geoffrey paired up with one of the girls and sat across from her Indian style. The other girls didn't understand why he didn't know the rhyme. It went:

"Miss Mary Mack, Mack, Mack

All dressed in black, black, black "

Geoffrey seemed to remember hearing it before, but he couldn't remember how it went. Finally one of the girls did the whole thing for him, and he sort of mouthed the words until he got it. The clapping pattern was pretty simple. You clap twice and then hit your right hand with your partner's right hand, clap twice again and then your left hand with your partner's left. Even though it seemed simple, it wasn't as easy as it seemed because of clapping twice before the across clap, especially if you are trying to remember the rhyme. It seemed it had to be done as fast as it can be. So he missed the other girls hand quite frequently. But all in all, it was a lot of fun.

Geoffrey learned the rhyme, eventually. Well he couldn't really remember the order, but the other girl did and you could catch on a split second later.

Geoffrey's partner sings, "With silver buttons, buttons, buttons," and he sings, "... silver buttons, buttons, buttons," missing the first word. But remembering the next line, "All down her back, back, back" Then he forgot the next line so the other girl sings, "She asked her mother, mother, mother" and he sings "uh uhed her mother, mother, mother...." Even if he didn't know the words, Geoffrey had a lot of fun anyway.

The boys were outside in the fenced off school yard running around. Geoffrey preferred to be sitting and playing the clapping game instead. It was actually harder than hide and go seek.

After recess, Miss Konner started some spelling lessons. Once again, the lessons were quick and changed format rapidly. Geoffrey knew most of the words, but not all of them. He raised his hand frequently when he knew or thought he knew the answer. Geoffrey wasn't always right.

Then something occurred to him. He could only spell at a first grade level. Which meant he could also only read at a first grade level. Geoffrey then took the ring out and pointed it at a student. Except for the word "BODY" and "LIFE" and that Geoffrey wasn't 100% sure about, Geoffrey couldn't read any of the instructions. How could he swap back his intelligence if he couldn't read the instructions?

Geoffrey could swap things randomly but then he could end up in a worse situation than he is now.

Geoffrey started to panic. What if he couldn't ever get back to normal? His first grade knowledge combined with his 'life' swap with Brooke and his growing panic propelled him into doing something very stupid. Geoffrey decides to try and figure out how to get his intelligence back without knowing all the words. He looks at the holographic screen and tries to figure it out. He notices there are two words he probably knows, 'BODY' and 'LIFE' but he doesn't think either of these will help.

The next option he can't understand is CLOTHES.' To him the word spelled there is pronounced "CLOT HEES" which he doesn't know. He knows very few words that have more than four letters. He tries it and Geoffrey is now wearing a shirt (the shirt was actually a tunic, although Geoffrey didn't know what it was called) that extends to his waist with a pair of matching tights and shoes that fastened with velcro. Since he has Brooke's life he feels more comfortable in these clothes although the size has been altered to fit his nearly six foot frame. So Geoffrey decides not to change back at this time. Although he didn't know it, he was now also wearing cute girls panties with stripes and a girls vest.

But that was obviously not the right choice. The next on the list is "MENTAL' he tries that. This gives him a whole new set of options, the right one is there, "INTELLIGENCE" but this is a word his seven-year-old brain doesn't understand. Geoffrey is looking for a word that starts with an 'S" for 'SMARTS'. He find "STAMINA" instead. He tries it, because it begins with an S. Geoffrey didn't know what happened, but he has the nervous energy of a seven-year-old now. He would find later than he gets fatigued (a word he doesn't know either) easily. He will just get tired all of a sudden. But right now he doesn't feel any different.

Geoffrey sees two big words he doesn't understand but one has an 'S' and tries that. He presses "Emotional Stability." All of a sudden, he is frustrated and he is on the verge of tears, but he tries to hold the tears back and he then selects another option.

The next thing he tries is "Attention Span" it has another 'S' in it. Once Geoffrey hits that, something distracts him and he forgets what he is doing and why he was doing it in the first place. After this Geoffrey loses interest in the ring and returns to the lesson.

Learning the lesson by Miss Konner occupied Geoffrey's attention for a while. He is drawn into the challenging lesson. But it occurs to him that this should be very easy for him and so he decides to try to use the ring again to return to normal. But with his limited attention span he forgot who has his 'SMARTS'. He thinks that the smartest girl in class must have it. She didn't, the girl in class who did have it found the work too easy to bother answering questions.

Geoffrey points the ring at her and he has the same problem as before he can't read the instructions. Geoffrey grows frustrated and tries something else at random, this time he switched his "CAREER GOALS." After that Geoffrey wanted to grow up to be a nurse, ballerina and a princess all at the same time. But he still didn't feel any different. In frustration he said, "I wish I could just tell this thing what I wanted." It was at this point Geoffrey heard, "Voice command module initiated. Voice commands now accepted."

"Great" Geoffrey thinks, his intelligence is too young for that to be a sarcastic remark. So Geoffrey says, "I want to get her smarts."

"Intelligence transferred," is the reply Geoffrey hears from the ring.

Time returns to normal and he checks it out. With the new girls intelligence Geoffrey is the smartest 'girl' in the class and can answer all Miss Konner's questions. Geoffrey is now satisfied that everything is back to normal. All of the changes he initiated while not being able to read the commands weren't considered nor even noticed. Geoffrey thinks he has all of his intelligence back, even though he doesn't know what that word means. But Geoffrey doesn't realize he has the height, attention span, emotional stability and career goals of a seven-year-old.

Geoffrey decides that he had better get his old life back as soon as he can. But he has to still wait until the school day is over.

At the end of the school day, Mrs. Tranell picks Geoffrey up at school. It's only a couple blocks walk from the school to her house, but she brought her car with her today. She opens the back door for Geoffrey and he enters the car. Then he straps himself in the child safety seat in the back. When Mrs. Tranell thinks Geoffrey is securely settled, she starts the car and drives off. She doesn't go to her home but to a hospital.

In the hospital, Geoffrey sees his mom talking to a doctor. Brooke is lying on a hospital bed. Mrs. Tranell goes to Mrs. Wilkinson (Geoffrey's mom) and they have a conference with the doctor.

What Geoffrey doesn't know is that even though Brooke now has his life she couldn't impersonate a teen boy like Geoffrey could impersonate a little girl. There was a big problem and in the end Brooke was taken to the hospital for observation..

Geoffrey wants to get back to his life as soon as possible so he is glad to see Brooke. Geoffrey uses the ring to swap his life back with Brooke. He also swapped back their first names. Geoffrey finds himself sitting on the bed that Brooke was formerly on. He thinks everything is back to normal. But he only switched lives with Brooke, all other trait swaps haven't changed. Geoffrey is still dressed like a seven-year-old girl and that is perfectly OK with him. He thinks his intelligence is normal (even though he doesn't know what the word intelligence means) but he has the intellect of a smart seven year old. Geoffrey also has a seven year olds attention span and temperament.

After talking with the doctor, Mrs. Wilkinson approaches him. "Geoffrey hunny, how would you like to go to a new school that is made for people like you?" she says with a smile on her face trying not to scare him.

"A school for people like me?" Geoffrey doesn't realize the ramifications of what she is saying with his seven-year-olds' mind.

Yes," Geoffrey says. He wants to be a princess, this school can help him he thinks, "they will teach me how to be a princess???" Geoffrey asks with a broad grin.

"Yes Geoffrey, its for special people like you. You will make lots of new friends and they have special teachers to help you." The decision had already been made, but Mrs. Wilkinson wants him to think it's his choice.

"I'll learn to be a princess?" Geoffrey asks.

"Yes, you can be anyone you want to be."

"OK, if I can be a princess then I'll go." Then Geoffrey thinks again, "But what if I want to be a nurse or a ballerina?"

"You can be anything you want to be, Hunny," Mrs. Wilkinson says with a genuine smile.

"Yes, let's go."

While Geoffrey was talking with his mother, Eliza arrived at the hospital. She looked at Geoffrey. She is the only one who knows something is wrong. She saw how Geoffrey is dressed now and the way people are treating him. She knows the new reality of Geoffrey's circumstance but doesn't know what he did to change reality. The most obvious thing she sees is that Geoffrey is wearing tights, but Brooke wearing her normal girl's clothes so she doesn't know who Geoffrey swapped with. Eliza doesn't know that Geoffrey had attended Brooke's school today (she thought Geoffrey had swapped back with Brooke early this morning) nor any of the other swaps.

To everyone else, this is perfectly normal. They all think that the school district had tried to mainstream Geoffrey and it didn't work. Now Geoffrey is going to be sent to an intensive school for 'special' students.

Mrs. Wilkinson and Mrs. Tranell leaves the room to fill out the paperwork. First to get Geoffrey discharged and second to enroll him in his new school. Geoffrey is left with Eliza. Eliza is very concerned about him. "What happened?" she asked.

"I couldn't get away to swap lives back with Brooke. So I went to her school. I had a lot of fun there. I got into trouble, but I figured it out. I switched lives back with Brooke and now I am back to being OK. It was fun at Brooke's school, I might do it again."

"No, you are not back to normal. Something is very, very wrong."

"Is it??? I feel fine."

"You are not fine. Think back what did you change?" Eliza implored.

"Nothing, I made it so the class work seemed hard, but I fixed that." Whether Geoffrey truly didn't remember everything else or is just too embarrassed to tell how he got stuck even Geoffrey was not sure. But no matter how much Eliza asked him, Geoffrey insist he is back to normal.

"Why are you wearing that?"

"It's pretty, don't you like it?" Geoffrey was on the verge of tears again. He knew Eliza thought something was wrong, but he didn't know what. He thought it must be his fault and his emotions couldn't take it.

"I'll be alright. Don't get yourself upset," Eliza said trying to calm Geoffrey. She knew the only thing she could do was to go to Brooke's class and see if anyone is acting strange.

Eliza first talked to Brooke, maybe Brooke had Geoffrey's intelligence. That was where to start, get back Geoffrey's intelligence and then he should know what happened to him. But when Eliza questioned Brooke, she seemed totally normal. She isn't any smarter than before and she wasn't wearing Geoffrey's clothing. Her name was back to normal too.

Eliza knows that the only thing to do is to go to Brooke's class and look around. If Geoffrey could get so screwed up, there must be a trace of it in Brooke's class. There are two obvious places to look, a girl student wearing boys clothes might be very obvious or a student who knows more than a seven-year-old should. Finding a girl dressed like a teenaged boy might be easy, but a very smart kid should be easy to find too.

Eliza wanted to leave Brooke out of it in case something went wrong. So Eliza found one of the students in Brooke's class and switched educational experiences with her. In the morning, Eliza would be attending first grade again in Brooke's class.

What Eliza didn't know and could never know was that the girl who Geoffrey had switched intelligence with along with apparel and attention span had been transferred to a class that was more conducive to her new intelligence. The ring had changed reality so no one in the class even knew that girl was ever in the class in the first place.

Eliza was old enough to walk to school. Even though she attended first grade she was still a teenager.

When Eliza got to the class and looked around, everything seemed perfectly normal. There wasn't any super smart kid. There wasn't a girl dressed like a man either, although there were several girls who's clothing might be worn by a boy. She couldn't check the panties to make sure. Even the last girl that Geoffrey had swapped with didn't seem any different. How was Eliza supposed to know that that girl was the smartest girl in the class and now she was just an average kid.

Eliza knew it couldn't have been with the teacher. The teacher couldn't have given Geoffrey the mind of a first grader. Eliza was totally frustrated.

Elizabeth, Geoffrey's mother drove Geoffrey to the school for special people. They arrived a little late since Elizabeth had to make sure Kate (her real seven-year-old daughter) got on the bus to her own school. They went into the office and Elizabeth filled out the paperwork. Geoffrey was now an official student at the school.

Geoffrey was taken to the appropriate class. There were only six other students in Geoffrey's new class. They arranged in age from sixteen to thirty four, but they all were at the same 'grade' level (about third grade). They worked at a very slow pace. There was a teacher and an aide to help her. Geoffrey was introduced to the class and was asked if he would like to tell about himself.

Geoffrey was dressed in a cute pink top with a butterfly on it and a matching skirt. In the report that accompanied Geoffrey it said that these clothes made him feel comfortable and shouldn't be questioned. So none of the teachers did. Plus the students were warned about it and they didn't say anything either.

"Hi, my name is Geoffrey and I am very smart and so I was sent to this special school. I want to be a princess or a nurse or a ballerina and that is why I am here."

The teacher Mrs. Brown said, "Well Geoffrey we are sure glad you are here. I am sure you will have lots of fun learning new things." Then she escorted him to his seat.

The work was slow but still challenging for Geoffrey's first grade mentality. He wasn't the smartest kid anymore. He quickly got jealous of another boy who was in his late twenties but who seemed to be the smartest. He was actually of a much lower intelligence than Geoffrey, he had just been at the school for almost two decades so he knew more. But with only a first grade intelligence Geoffrey couldn't tell.

Geoffrey took out his ring and when the screen came up, he said, "I want to be as smart as him." When the ring had finished, Geoffrey was now as smart as the other kid. But now instead of having the intelligence of an above average first grader he was now truly autistic. He was certainly smarter, but his thinking had slowed to a crawl and he developed a bunch of other mental and social problems that came with autism.

After swapping intelligence with the autistic kid Geoffrey truly belonged at this school. He fit right in now and was the 'smartest' kid in his new class, this made Geoffrey feel very comfortable.

After a while, it was time to go to gym. Geoffrey changed into his gym clothes which were a unisex t-shirt and shorts. While at the gym he met another kid. This kid was putting in a great deal of effort and you could see it on his face. When he was done somehow Geoffrey and this kid struck up a conversation. This wasn't as easy as it seemed since Geoffrey had some new social problems which made him a bit anti-social. But the kid noticed that Geoffrey was watching him so he came over.

Geoffrey discovered that this kid was going to be in the Special Olympics. Geoffrey with his diminished brain didn't know exactly what the Special Olympics were, but he knew somehow that the Olympics were for people who were good at sports. Geoffrey got jealous again and took out his ring. "I wanna be in the Olympics" he said as he pointed the ring at the boy. Geoffrey now had a whole host of physical problems to go along with his mental problems, but he was going to be in the Special Olympics this year. He knew his mom had signed him up and he even remembered being in the Special Olympics last year too.

Changing back into his top and skirt was much harder now. Once he swapped with that boy he now has a limp and his body doesn't work right anymore. He actually needed help now to get dressed. He also wore a diaper because it was much easier to deal with. He had to pee a little bit all the time and it was better to wear a diaper than to go through all the trouble of getting undressed to pee every half hour or so.

Once back in class the lessons continued. The teachers encouraged the students to work in groups in the afternoon, but Geoffrey was a bit antisocial so he wasn't totally comfortable with it. The girl he was paired with didn't have this problem. She had a host of other problems but she was very chatty and outgoing. That is why she was paired with Geoffrey to bring him out of his shell. Geoffrey wished he could be like that.

He pulled out his ring and said, "I wanna be like her." The ring knew what he meant and gave him all of the girls social graces. Geoffrey was now a very lively and chatty person. The problem was that it had given him all of her social attributes which meant that he now liked boys.

The rest of the day passed easily. He was now no longer shy around people and he was the smartest kid in his class. So when his mom picked him up and asked about his day. He said, "I really like it here," which was true. Elizabeth was happy that they had found the perfect place for her son who has many mental and physical problems.

Eliza got back long before Geoffrey did. She swapped her school back with Amanda's classmate and had returned to normal. She was at a quandary as to what to do. She couldn't find what she needed to switch Geoffrey back and she considered herself a failure for not knowing what to do. She waited for Geoffrey to return home and went to his house when he got there.

When she saw him, she knew right away that things had gotten worse. She could see in his face that he was now mentally challenged. Before he wasn't too smart but he didn't look retarded, but now that was different. She could also see the physical changes. They were very extensive and it didn't include that he was wearing a diaper (which she couldn't tell until he took off his skirt.) Her face dropped. She also didn't love him like a boyfriend anymore. She knew she should like him like that, she remembered loving him, but the ring had changed that when it swapped his social life.

When Geoffrey saw Eliza though his face lit up. He was happy to see her. He now felt that she was his best friend but he had no interest in her socially. "Oh school was so much fun," he gushed. "We learned so many things and the people there were really nice. They are going to teach me to be a princess." He went on to tell about his day, about the students and teachers at the school. That he is the smartest kid at the school and that he is training for the Special Olympics. He also talked about this boy there that he liked and Eliza got the impression about his new sexual orientation.

Eliza knew that he had gone way too far and that she couldn't fix him. There was just too much, he would never be the same and the more things continued, it probably would get worse. He wasn't retarded when he left for the school. (She knew that retarded wasn't the right word, but she wasn't in the mood to be politically correct. At least not in her own mind.) He wasn't deformed. He wasn't gay. Now look at him.

But she loved him so much and she needed to help him. So she took one last drastic step. She had noticed this feature a while back, but now was the time to use it she thought.

Eliza pointed the ring at Geoffrey and she was going to swap 'LIVES' with him and use the 'TOTAL' and 'PERMANENT' option. This would mean, both lives would be totally switched in every way. He would be Eliza and she would be what Geoffrey had become in every way. That was the 'TOTAL' part. The 'PERMANENT' part meant that after the exchange, the ring for both of them would be permanently inactive. They couldn't use them again, and no one who had one could use them on them either. It was a permanent change never to be undone. Eliza would remember what happened since she was the one using the ring but Geoffrey would not remember. This was an act of true love. She would give up everything to save him. She couldn't bare to see him like this.

She thought about what he had become, he was now a retarded, homosexual transvestite with many physical and mental problems. She didn't know about the emotional and other problems he had acquired. This would be her life from now on. To be honest, Eliza didn't know whether Geoffrey was a man or a woman. She could check Geoffrey's panties to find out. (She still didn't know he was wearing diapers either) But it didn't matter anyway.

She couldn't see him like that, she would give him her life. She had a bright future, even if it wouldn't be with Geoffrey. She clicked the appropriate options. The ring flashed an 'Are you sure?' message. She clicked that too. The last thing she thought as her life faded away was, "I wonder what it's like to be a princess."
